Btw, the medical advice is completely wrong. (I had similar misaligned bones as a child) — it’s actually MORE traumatic and harder on the body to try and re-break a bone as an adult than as a child. The earlier and younger you do it, the better. When a bone is misaligned or healed wrong or somehow out of position, the option of purposeful breakage and realignment is best done as SOON as possible. Children’s bones are softer, their bodies more flexible, and in a period of great growth and healing as stem cells are abundant and can more easily replace and repair, etc. It will grow in wrong and potentially cause more secondary issues if it’s allowed to remain broken until adulthood, and his recovery time will be much longer and harder.
My doctors caught my twisted femurs too late – and I wasn’t even a preteen yet. They told me it would have been more feasible if we had caught it as soon as possible. Additionally, If left untreated, a severe malunion (Incorrectly healed bones where the body has filled in the gaps with extra bone, causing misalignment and excess bone) can lead to early onset arthritis and loss of function of the affected limb entirely.
You’d think they could have done a quick google to research such a thing, but ultimately it’s fantasy and enabling a plot lol.
