How come people are blaming ethan for it. He accepted that he is at fault and is trying hard not to get in princess way. And doro herself killed the crown prince because she was jealous and insecure, if anyone is to be blamed is trash Father.

How about you choose the one who set you up to murder thousands not caring about anyone just to be with a strong empress. Then while regretting his actions reversed the whole thing again. He’s a manipulator and always will be. Just because he regretted his actions once doesn’t change that fact. She’ll pick him because he’ll manipulate the situation into his favor. It’s impossible for him to stop being manipulative because it’s just like breathing for him.

While I do agree that this story could have taken an interesting turn and had the Female Lead become an empress all by herself, like the queen she is, but I disagree with the long message down below explaining why Ethan is a bitch. He is not. Controlled her? Manipulated her? Are we reading the same story? Didn’t Dorothea change her ways because she had always been like that? Ever since childhood which was caused by that sorry excuse of a father’s treatment and the shit their nation was spouting? She and Ethan took interest in each other because they are ‘bad’. She said so herself that they relate to each other that’s why they got along. I am not saying that Ethan did not contribute to her sufferings. But didn’t everyone have had a hand on her miserable life? She did too. She caused other people sufferings because of her choices.
Another, (I’m starting to get lost because I’m getting distracted.) yes, Ethan’s ways are twisted. Is being bad innate? No. He was raised like that and his environment was surrounded with shitty people, of course he’d be like that. Not that I’m defending his ways, but isn’t Dorothea like that too? The only problem is that he didn’t change even after regressing, but isn’t he trying to follow her footsteps and ‘be good’? He and Dorothea have the same concept of love. He really does want to help her. Can’t you see that he really was staying away from her because he thinks she and Theon are together? Ethan wants Dorothea to be happy even when he’s out of the picture. If that isn’t love, what is?
Lastly, did you skip a few chapters because I believe the controlling and owning Dorothea mindset of his have been resolved? He thought she wanted to be an empress again, Dorothea told him no. They worked on that didn’t they? So, what’s the issue here? Aren’t we over that part? They are getting better, yes? Changing for the better? Dorothea for herself and Ethan for Dorothea. Soooo… (bye, sorry this was so long)

@DukeOfTea – “Just for her to be happy”. No he didn’t, he did it for himself 100%. He caused her utter, soul-wrenching misery in her first life. He literally Grima Wormtongue-d her into committing treason, because he was “intrigued” by her not being like other noble ladies. He tricked her into murdering her own brother despite probably knowing his true feelings for Dorothea, and basically forced Theon to die slowly in front of her because he was jealous. He literally disobeyed her direct orders by intercepting Theon’s letters, and murdered his friend for the Spirit Crystal and then hid it from her. He caused her reputation to fall by arranging for all the nobles who questioned her to be executed, so that he could isolate her and keep her to himself.
Even at the end, he didn’t want to help her – he wanted to force her to be his (when he demanded that she beg him to save her on the gallows). He was literally the new Emperor, there were a million ways he could save her without her grovelling to him, but his usual behaviour of wanting noble ladies to prostrate themselves before him was there.
He’s 100% selfish, as shown by his actions after they both regressed – trying to get the peasant children in trouble, forcing himself on her. Worse, he forced the Spirit of Light on to her – she said it herself, she felt the worst soul-crushing despair when she realised she didn’t have the power, it was just him pretending. Like saying to a paraplegic “Would you like to walk again?” giving them a jab with some miracle drug that can only work for a short time, making them believe they can, until it wears off and then saying “Well, only if you stay by my side forever”. Only 100x worse, because it also forced her back into the Emperor’s vision and threatens her brother’s position and life after she had finally reconciled with Ray. All without so much as asking her.
He doesn’t “love” her, he covets her. He lusts for her. He wants to control and own her. He’s super toxic and obsessive – as evidenced by him constantly going “Why isn’t she using the power I forced on to her”. And if he can’t figure out, even after she told him to his face that forcing that power on her DESTROYED her, which is why she isn’t using the power, it just shows how irredeemable he is.

It’s obvious she’ll choose Ethan – she’s still not over being traumatized by her first life. That’s why she feels responsible for Theon. But really- I’m glad he wants her to be happy tho and isn’t forcing her into a marriage proposal. But I agree! Ethan literally reversed time and suffered again just for her to be happy
