Crazy how many people are blaming HER when it’s RIFTAN who’s refusing to talk and resolve their issues. And she’s not CAUSING them to move slowly or get hurt or whatever. Not a single injury has been caused by Maxi. It was a wyvern and a rock fall. And of course she’d get caught up in it if SEASONED KNIGHTS are having a problem with it.
These people in the comments blaming her for literally just breathing have crazy levels of misogyny, internalized or otherwise. Always blaming Maxi when she’s literally done no wrong is wild.
She’s SUPPOSED to want to protect her people any way she can. She’s their LADY. She’s a MAGE. Sending them without anyone to treat their wounds is like in our medieval times if they had no SURGEONS. No herbalists. No nothing.
She is surgeon and herbalist and magical healer all in one, They NEEDED her and she stepped up. She isn’t doing this for herself, even if it’s ALSO for herself. She’s worried that without a healer her husband and his men MIGHT DIE.
And it’s not just blowing hot air either, or the other men wouldn’t have agreed with her.

Riftan was right no matter how desperate they were it was stupid to put her in danger like this. Yeah yeah I know she was a bird in her father’s cage but you don’t throw a bird to fly. It will die. You should go step by step. That’s what the comments are saying

Well I think he got hurt while trying to save her. That’s what I was saying. I know she is a healer but she is healing the injuries she causes herself.
Anyway I think it’s hard for Riftan to act tough with Maxi That’s why he is avoiding her.

Yes, she is inexperienced…but she insisted on coming! This wasn’t the time for on the job training (this isn’t an office job 🙄). She’s letting her issues with riftan affect her sleep, meaning she is useless. Her inaction will get people killed.
She was being stubborn and trying to prove herself by coming, but all she did was prove Riftan right. She should’ve started with small expeditions and so forth.
And now she’ll be buried in rubble or hurt or will get separated from the group, and guess who will have to waste time/energy/resources digging her up or searching for her o carrying her injured self? Riftan and the knights.
Wanting to improve is the first step, but if you aren’t competent enough to actually learn and know your limitations, then good intentions are worthless, you’re nothing more than a burden and liability at that point.
And her low self-esteem…this drags on quite literally until ¾s of the novel. We know the story will have a HEA, but they push her character growth untill the very end…and the miscommunication between the ML and FL never ends.

Maxi is probably unable to process the situation due to exhaustion which is a reason why she can’t help. She is also not use to those situations so her actions are slow and so are her reflexes. She is not to blame because if anyone was in that situation we would all be just like Maxi and to those who oppose that. Realistically we will no better than her or maybe even worse than her because no one who lived a life closed off of such situations (meaning dealing with monsters or the wild wilderness in the novel). No one will be able to grasp it quickly. It takes a while to.

She is kinda irking me right now. She just talked about being able to do it, but when she has to act she is just staring around. Like he said to make a barrier and she just was standing there. She wanted to prove herself, she should have rock walled herself and as many of the soldiers she could. It would prove her worth better than standing around doing nothing. Almost want to read the story so I know what happens bc I hate how long these updates are. once a week sucks. (Not that I don’t appreciate the team doing them, just sucks)
