I’m more annoyed by the comments at this point than Riftan, though he’s STILL annoying.
She’s trying to resolve any ruffled feathers so they can work together better and he’s rebuffing her because he takes her hardship as a hit to his f*ing ego.
He looked at the blood on her clothes and got this disgusted look. Like your dolly isn’t that pretty and pristine anymore? He annoys me.
But people coming here to say he’s ‘right’ when she’s literally being the only responsible one trying to wind down conflict and work together? His male ego is getting in the way of being a LORD and that is his LADY, not just any mage.
You can follow orders and still try to resolve issues between you and your commanding officer.

Vain Viper, I agree. He can’t go in this thinking of her as his wife bc it puts him and his people at risk. It’s a distraction. She needs to see him for his rank as well. On this mission, she is a mage before anything else. That is what she needs to worry about.
Side note: I hope she consumes the magic stones secretly and becomes more powerful. Doesn’t have to be OP, but enough to save the day once or twice, so she doesn’t feel like the damsel in distress anymore and Riftan can see how strong she really is. I also want to know when she will snap and tell him how strong she really is after all she endured. Still no one knows how she was abused. Lastly, I kinds want her mom’s family genetics to come into play some way for her magic abilities. idk. Just some of my thoughts.

I don’t think he’s jealous… I think he remembers a past life where she was killed, so he’s determined to keep her safe but he feels like his efforts are not working… It seems more like frustration to me
