I think the ending is justified. If she chose to be immortal while remembering all her past lives then it doesn’t makes sense for her to yearn for her real freedom. By completely cutting of her life including her memories and attain what her original goal was, I think the author made a nice move at the end seeing that now that she have been reborn totally new with no past recollection, she can just fall in love again with ML and maybe this time her goal would be different per se. She may want to live with him forever And ML can just help her with that.

I honestly had really great expectations from this story but I believe they could have made the end different. Like wasn’t she able to become the strongest mage in one of her past lives. So, why didn’t she do it again and become immortal just like the other mage and be together with ml
