   He left because her father and brothers told him to, they convinced him that the only way he could be worthy of standing beside her was if he had power and could stand on his own without her “protection”. Also, they need him to gain more power and backing to take his throne back so that they can use him to claim his kingdom as part of the Empire without starting a whole ass war!
