That shot of them all sleeping together instantly made me think of an illustration of The Children of Lir.
The short version is Fionuala (King Lir’s eldest) and her three younger brothers are cursed by their wicked stepmother to be swans for–what, three-hundred years? By the time the curse comes to it’s prophesied end, these fairy/demi-god children are all ancient and withered and die very shortly after. The saving grace is that they are all still alive and together at the end. (Oh, and Christianized, but I don’t particularly like that addendum to whatever the original legend was.)
