I’ve never understood why the ML was so hated, like in the first life I understood why he imprisoned the FL since she literally KILLED/BURNED hundreds of his people/soldiers so it makes sense why he would imprison her, if anything it was mercy, any other king would have killed her as revenge against those she killed. He imprisoned her and proposed they worked together, keep in mind, to him, she was a monster that killed lots of his soldiers.
The thing lots of concubines is also understandable, he used them as connections to the concubines kingdom, I don’t even think he fucked any of the too, he even refused dinner and etc. with them. Plus he was an illegitimate child on the throne, he needs as much power and connection as he can get and the easiest way is to get married, hence concubines from different powerful families that supported him cause their daughters was with him.
Although he seriously need to control his concubines, especially in the first life 😑 like dude, your trying to make a deal with the FL maybe don’t let your concubines torture her.
