Man this reveal was much more dramatic in the novel…

I really appreciate all the additional context you’ve been giving @IReadthisoncebefore
It’s really deepening my connection with the story.
Lost from light
This was a lot sadder in the novel

Additional spoilers:
Kania also learned one more thing in Frey’s subconscious which nearly broke her. She learned that Frey’s mother was sacrificed by Kania’s biological parents in order to create the dark mana in her. As a child, Frey begged his father to alter his memories so he wouldn’t remember this and come to hate her. Instead, Frey believes the two sisters were orphaned children who he brought in to the manor. It should be noted that this will not be the only time we see memories being manipulated, so expect Frey to sometimes be an unreliable narrator.

Oh boy, this chapter was a lot different than the novel. Missed a lot of good scenes. Time for some context and spoilers!
Missed scenes: They didn’t show one of what I would call the most important scenes. When Kania enters Frey’s subconscious, she expects to see darkness, destruction, and horrific scenes as the inner space of one’s mind usually reflects the inner evils of a person. However, she finds it to be serene and clear. The master of the subconscious is usually also depicted by one’s inner most darkness and desires, but Frey’s shows himself as a child before he started on his path to save his world. The administrator tells Kania that her death was the 3rd? time he ever cried in his life, and when Kania asks about the other times he goes over in agonizing detail the deaths of the 5 heroines and the death of his father (which is explained in the novel that Frey needs to kill his father to unlock the hero’s armament) which are the only times Frey ever allowed himself to be weak. After waking up, instead of relying on Kania Frey twists the truth and tells her he used her towards his goal, and that she was nothing more than a tool for him. He does this to avoid hurting Kania should she ever learn the truth without knowing she already knew, which only hurt her more that he was still trying to be kind to her. Kania goes along with it, but starts to help Frey as much as she can from then on.

This was a powerful chapter. “I can handle being hated all by myself.” Wow.

That being said I hope this develops into something where even if she known there’s nothing she can do about it. She should barely be able to be supportive such as making him normal food
