I think in the novel the little sister fell in love cause the bullying made her wish she had someone who was kind to her, but now that she has a loving sister she has no interest in romance. I mean logically teenage girls have a 50/50 chance of having a crush or developing hobbies, not all teenage girls have interest in romance.
