When did edwin or the duke himself treated her badly? Edwin is literally treated her like a little sister (which ugh, he being a ML aint my taste because of this fact but well,). He showed so much favors toward her. I dont know what you talking about. He is not even cold duke type of character.
The premise is that she is their downfall (they tried to protect her and that lead to their death) not the only way around. She didnt die because of them, they died because trying to protect her.
They loved her even when she had no power??
This is not a matter of opinion, you are just say things that is not true. Saying things like Edwin or the duke treated her badly??? There are many flashbacks that showed she was loved even she was the villian/useless.
Calling her dumb is an opinion, calling Edwin treated her badly is a fault.
Plus you as FL would lost your power already because that what happening when you staying at a church. You cant hide your power, you return back when you are already in the church’s orphanage.
Yeah i would return and choose to save the family that was so nice to me and i was causing them death in past life. Also, to escape abuse at the orphanage and the priest stealing my power.

Our opinions differ – I can understand. You would rather take duke & his family support, but if it were me – I would chart my own path. Of course I wont let anyone know about the powers so the people who her loose them in first wont loose them now.
Now, the matter you said about forced engagement in timeline 1. If it were so, ML would have at least shown some favour to FL. However, he remained aloof, clearly didn’t love her. If he did, then not enough. Please spare me that he wanted to protect her so he treated her terribly. This is no excuse. You can take the person in confidence and let them know that you are treating them harshly to protect you not because you want to !
But no, we have engraved in our psychology to make excuses for men around us. It just misogyny at its peak. If I loved someone with all my heart and he remained aloof. I would rather give up in my second life then continue again on that wretched path!

Below person is the one who is stupid, not the fl.
In story like this anf for its time it based of, people get engage without love as normality. The plot clearly indicate that ML partly get blackmail into it to protect FL in past life. Look, he is dying saving her.
If FL is as stupid as you and keep her distance from duke family, she would lost her power and be dead.
FL is the one who brought the duke family down in past life, people have regreat, they treated her well as a family as well, I would help my past life family who nice to me.
Also how the duke family os her downfall? You can argue that Diana, church or FL herself is the downfall but not the duke family. They treated her well as family member and help her escape an abusive orphanage.

FL is stupid and ML clearly is trash. If he really loved her or something then why would he get engaged with OGFL in Timeline 1. If FL has any self respect, she should just decide not to get sponsored by them or keep her distance from the said person who was her downfall in previous life
