    tbh her father probably had circumstances, it’s war and stuff and her mother never try to find him or to have his actual names.
    I don’t know if the mother knows the dad names yet he believes him.
    Also leaving Franz is definitely a right way to keep a promise.

    The mother is well intentioned, but the way she’s going about it is overbearing since she’s projecting her bad experience with a noble onto her daughter (which she acknowledges in chapter 27). It’s not her fault she met trash and it certainly doesn’t make her hateful, she’s just scared for her daughter and as a result, her way of protecting her daughter is what we see now. Does it give her an excuse to behave the way she does around Bertram and his friend? Obviously not since she could’ve gone about it another way.

    the red head mother need to just SHUT UP and go to hell…. what a poor shit, I can’t stand her anymore…. Your life is shit because you made a choice and spread your legs, stop being so toxic that you could die at this stage by ruining your child’s life by projecting your own insecurities as a poor, frustrated moron. It just makes you a HATEFUL person and it doesn’t attract sympathy at all in the “ouch, the guy I slept with ran off just after we did” kind of way. Well, it was your choice, so shut up and stop being a bitch who ruins everything.
