   Oh wait, no. The dragon used magic to break the glass all over the queen and help out the person with the pretty face–aka Laritte.

   Laritte’s been getting into accidents for a while, so much so that Ian’s convinced she’s been cursed and didn’t want her learning horsemanship (which–yeah. People routinely died–or might as well have–from falling off horses back in the day. They still do, although far fewer people have anything to do with horses).
   The red guy is evidently a dragon (possibly THE dragon they were hunting for on the plateau that went away). He can see that, indeed, Laritte is surrounded by an aura of bad luck.
   The queen tried to hand a glass of wine to Laritte, either to splash her, get her drunk, or drug her–but the glass broke in her hand and ruined the queen’s dress instead because she was within the radius of Laritte’s bad luck.
